Vietnam Nears Finalization of Major Boeing Aircraft Deal
The Southeast Asian nation is set to seal this high-profile aircraft purchase, in addition to agreements for $2.9 billion worth of US agricultural products, the statement reveals.
This deal follows a historic $7.8 billion contract signed between Vietnam Airlines and Boeing in September 2023, shortly after a meeting between then-President Joe Biden and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi.
The news surfaced just as US President Donald Trump unveiled a new trade agreement with Hanoi following talks with Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary To Lam.
Trump took to Truth Social to describe the deal as a “Great Deal of Cooperation between our two Countries.”
The draft agreement also suggests both sides will continue to work on finalizing the deal, with an expected completion "within the coming weeks."
Boeing has yet to respond to media’s request for confirmation.
